Fees are set either at an hourly rate, depending on the complexity of the case, or at a fixed rate, when the scope of the assignment permits.

Methods of determining fees

Principles
‍
The attorney-client relationship is governed by a retainer agreement (art. 394 ff CO). A written fee agreement is recommended; it specifies the assignment, the method of calculation (time-based or flat-rate), retainers and expenses.

Methods of remuneration
‍
- Time-based: according to an hourly rate that takes into account complexity and urgency.
- Flat-rate: when the scope of the assignment allows it.
- Palmario (result-based fees): possible in addition to reasonable basic fees, in a transparent and proportionate manner.

Other important information

- A deposit may be requested when the case is opened.
‍
- Swiss legal protection insurance may, depending on your policy, cover all or part of the fees/expenses.

Disputes
‍
In the event of disagreement, the conciliation route (CPC) is open before any legal proceedings before the competent court in the canton of Fribourg.
